We are Growing| From one word to twenty countries | The story so far.

Twenty countries. One philosophy. One month ago we sent out The First Thread and hoped someone would read it. What came back was a global community and with it, stories from the fields of KwaZulu-Natal that will stop you mid-scroll. A rugby first-timer heading for Sharks trials. A young man who called his coach just to say he feels ok. A 14-year-old with a dream and nothing but courage. This is The Second Thread. Read it.

Words: Ubuntu Threads

We are Growing| From one word to twenty countries | The story so far.

One month ago, we sent out The First Thread. We shared a word, "Ubuntu" and explained what it means and why it is the foundation of everything we are building. We weren't sure who would read it. We weren't sure who would care.

You answered that uncertainty with something we didn't expect.... a community. People from across the globe reading, sharing, buying, and belonging. Not in the way that a marketing funnel delivers customers, but in the way that a genuine philosophy attracts people who were already living by it without a name for it.

This is The Second Thread. And it arrives with news that humbles us, stories that move us, and a gratitude that we genuinely don't have adequate words for.

"Happiness is only real when shared." - Coach Wian Mduku Warriors

That line wasn't written for us. It was sent as a private message, the kind that coaches send to other coaches when something shifts in a young player's life. But it captures everything Ubuntu Threads is trying to be.

From his first rugby ball to Sharks trials:

Last September, a young man named Shemie picked up a rugby ball for the first time in his life. He had no background in the game. No history of playing. Just a ball, a pitch, and a coach named Wian who saw something worth believing in.

Less than twelve months later, Shemie was selected for the Sub Union Zululand team. The week this newsletter goes out, he travels to take part in the KZN Sharks trials.

Strangers congratulated the team at the tournament. Officials, players, coaches and fans offering sincere respect, not because they were obligated to, but because some stories demand to be acknowledged. Shemie is one of those stories.

The Mduku Warriors also received extraordinary news this month: A development officer at the tournament has committed to sponsoring their coaches for their Level 1 coaching courses in January. If they pass, each coach receives a monthly stipend from KZNU for their work. Coaching becoming a career. Mentorship becoming livelihood.

This is Ubuntu in action. A community that invests in its young people is a community that invests in its future.

The hard work was Shemie's. The tackles, the training, the belief, all his. Ubuntu Threads helped kit the team. Ubuntu Wildlife Trust helped open the door. Coach Wian held it open. But walking through it? That was Shemie.

Whatever happens at those trials, he has already shown what is possible when opportunity meets potential. Go and show them what you've got, young man.

A Quiet Moment:

"I've been feeling happy and ok since the games."

A player named Manyula called his coach this month. Just to say that. Coach Wian had quietly suspected for some time that Manyula was carrying something heavy. Depression doesn't announce itself loudly, especially not in young men in communities where there is little space to name it.

But rugby gave him somewhere to be. People who noticed him. A structure that held him together when he might otherwise have been alone with his thoughts.

"Trust the process." Those were Coach Wian's words. We think he's right.

And then there was Andile

a 14-year-old from the Mbazwana area who heard about the Mduku Warriors and reached out because he has a dream. He couldn't get hold of Coach Wian directly, so he asked a stranger to pass along his name and number.

That's what a community does. It creates pathways where there were none. It turns a name and a number into an opportunity.

Andile, if you're reading this, you already showed us who you are.

THE Global Thread:

When we launched The First Thread, we hoped people would find us. We didn't dare imagine that within a month, Ubuntu Threads would reach twenty countries across the globe.

Every purchase made from every corner of the world sends something real to Sothern Africa. To anti-poaching patrols. To rugby boots. To coaching courses. To young people like Shemie and Manyula and Andile.

That is not a marketing statistic. That is twenty countries worth of people who believe that what they wear can mean something. That fashion can be a form of action. That Ubuntu isn't just a philosophy, it's a practice.

We want more. More countries. More people who feel something when they see a wild elephant in the bush and don't scroll past it. More people ready to Wear the Story. Share the Journey.

What comes Next:

The Mduku Warriors coaching courses begin in January. We'll be with them every step of the way. The Shining Stars and Keystone Kids will have more to tell us before the year is out. Ubuntu Wildlife Trust continues the slow, unglamorous, vital work across Southern Africa, and we'll keep sharing what that work looks like up close.

New collections are coming. The Primal Range grows. The Nexus Designs, connected by the stars, built around the animals you love, will have more stories woven into them.

And we want twenty to become forty. Forty to become eighty. Not because scale is the goal, but because every new country is a new network of people who believe that what you wear can change something real, far away, in the life of a young person who needed an open door.

"Ubuntu -  I am because we are."

If that still resonates and we hope it does, share this thread. Tell someone who would feel it. Grow this community one person at a time, the only way real communities grow.

 Finally....

You are the reason Shemie has boots. You are the reason Manyula called his coach. You are the reason a 14-year-old from Mbazwana dared to reach out. You didn't do any of those things directly, but you made them possible.

To every new member of this community: welcome. You didn't just buy something. You chose something. That matters more than we can adequately express.

To everyone who has joined us.... Thank-you
